Hermes Vintage WatchesMeeting Mickey Antique Watches

Hermès and watches

Everyone has heard of Hermes, a famous luxury fashion brand.

I think there is.

When I first heard about the luxury brand Hermes, I was in awe of it.

I think I was still in my late teens.

I think it was about 10 years ago that I got my first Hermes bag.

Since then, I have acquired various bags and scarves.

The one item I hadn't bought was an Hermes watch.

It's not that I never wanted it.

The H watch and Nantucket, introduced in 1996, feature interchangeable straps.

This is a great feature that allows you to easily change the strap at home.

Being able to easily change the belt to suit the season or your mood is a must for any fashionable woman.

I think this is a must-have fashion item.

In summer, it's a good idea to change to a white or blue jean (turquoise) belt.

But to me, an Hermes watch is just a fashion item.

It didn't feel like a wristwatch.

It may have felt like an accessory bearing a luxury brand name.

What changed my way of thinking was the vintage Hermes that I will introduce to you today.

This is where I met my wristwatch.

An antique Hermes watch with Mickey Mouse on display.

Mickey's appearance is so cute.

His facial expression is a little different from modern Mickey Mouse.

A long time ago, when my grandfather went to Disneyland in America,

A Mickey Mouse zipper charm that my mother gave me as a souvenir when she was still a child.

The faces are similar. (This one is also quite old.)

The Mickey Mouse face on the display of this watch is playful and

Perhaps it's because of the luxury of Hermes mixed in.

It is one of those watches that will attract attention from people around you.

People don't ask me things like, "You're wearing an expensive watch." or "What brand is it?"

"You have a cute watch." "That's a stylish watch."

It is often said that...

Those compliments are the "happy words" I'm looking for.

So, if your favorite vintage watch is from the luxury brand Hermes,

It might be more accurate to say that it was a product.

If you use it in a casual style with that kind of feeling,

It's a watch that first has the stylish antique look, and then you can really appreciate its high performance.

That's why "Hermes is the best product after all."

And best of all, a mechanical watch makes a beautiful sound when you hold it up to your ear.

The sound of the second hand of a mechanical watch is characterized by its fast tempo, but that is also

When you think about the fact that this is a sound that has remained unchanged for decades, it takes on a historical value.

Quartz and Mechanical

Luxury watches can be broadly divided into two categories: jewellery watches and complicated high-performance watches.

There are also differences in the internal structure between quartz and mechanical watches.

As expected, watch specialty brands offer excellent prices and performance.

Naturally, I too find myself admiring jewellery watches from well-known luxury watch brands.

Why is that?

Antique Hermes watches are more expensive than current model watches.

There are many things that are valuable.

The reason is that since it is mechanical, it will last a long time if you take good care of it.

I also think that when you use something for a long time, you grow attached to it and it doesn't go out of style.

・Hermes vintage Mickey Mouse watch movement

It is engraved with HERMES PARIS.

It's quite different from the current mark and gives off a sense of age.

It says that the bezel (the gold edge) is 10 micron gold plated.

Of course, the movement is mechanical.

The word "HERMES" on the gears is impressive.

*Since this is an old item, I do not know the details about customization or part replacement history.

Simply put, a mechanical watch is an old-fashioned "spring-powered" watch.

From the outside, you can't tell if it's mechanical without reading the instruction manual or removing the back of the watch.

The characteristic of a mechanical watch is that when you put your ear to the watch, it makes a quick ticking sound.

You will hear a sound like this.

And if you don't wind it, it will stop after a day or two.

The history of mechanical watches is said to be several hundred years old, but mechanical watches made after 1950

The performance has improved considerably, and most expensive men's watches are self-winding.

It is mechanical.

Mechanical watches, as long as they are properly maintained,

It still functions as an antique clock today.

By the way, Rolex and Omega automatic mechanical watches come with a 30-year warranty.

The price and maintenance are a little expensive, but you can use it for a long time.

*As for Omega, watches manufactured in 1950 are still eligible for repair.

However, you should avoid wearing them when playing sports such as golf or tennis.

Also, for some reason, many of the expensive jewellery watches for women are not mechanical.

The battery charge is indicated.

A quartz watch is a watch that runs on a battery and electronic circuits.

Unlike mechanical watches, they are battery powered and do not require winding.

And when you put the watch to your ear, you can hear the second hand moving at one-second intervals, so it sounds more natural than a mechanical watch.

It is characterized by a slow tempo of the sound.

Of course, when the battery runs out, you will need to replace it.

It looks very convenient and easy to use.

However, currently the only countries that produce quartz movements are Japan and Switzerland.

If the electronics break down, it's difficult to repair.

And even if this electronic circuit works without any malfunctions, it is said to have a lifespan of approximately 10 years.

Of course, luxury watch manufacturers will replace quartz movements for you.

Then, as I mentioned at the beginning, the thing that suddenly occurred to me was fashion.

For women, they are happy to have as many accessories and branded items as they want,

It's easy to get interested in new designs, isn't it? That's what I was like too.

Rather than spending tens of thousands of yen and spending time on repairs,

I think the truth is that we can't help but get distracted.

While a luxury watch is a lifetime purchase for men, women tend to value it more as a fashion item.

It might feel a little different.

That's why antique and vintage watches may be more popular among men.

Mechanical watches are simple, highly functional, and many of them can be used for a long time.

This vintage Hermes watch that I introduced is also for men.

But, like this, I made the belt red to match Mickey's image color.

It would be nice to do that.

Don't you think it would look nice in yellow or black?

Hermes vintage watches are a long-lasting favorite.

It's my go-to fashion item and watch.
