Longines 6b/159 RAF Pilot Wristwatch 1956

WWII Royal Air Force Pilot's Watch. This watch was ordered by the RAF for its pilots and navigators.

In 1956 the RAF undertook a stock rationalisation programme and produced new stainless steel cases for all remaining stocks of World War II watches.

This new case replaced the lower-cost alloy cases the watches had been ordered with, allowing the RAF to continue using higher quality movements.

A large stainless steel case was ordered from the renowned British manufacturer Denison, the dial was changed from white to black, and the hands were painted with luminescent material.
