THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL GENTS VINTAGE 1988 ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL AIR-KING WRISTWATCH IN STAINLESS STEEL.
DESCRIPTION.
This is a stunning example of the Rolex Oyster Air-King made in 1988. It's rare these days to find a Rolex Air-King Ref. 5500 with an original unrestored dial in blue. The overall condition of this Rolex for its age is very good.
The stainless steel case is in very good condition for its age with light age related surface marks. The original (unrestored) dial is in perfect condition and looks simply gorgeous. The blue dial has raised steel batons with steel hands. The very high grade 26 jewels movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
To complete this fantastic piece, it comes on a new lizard strap.
CASE.
The stainless-steel case is in good condition with extremely light wear. The case measures 34mm across without the Rolex oyster screw-down crown and 40mm long including the lugs. Inside the case back all the marks are correct as expected: Montres Rolex SA Geneva Switzerland, patented stainless steel. The case middle is marked 5500 and the case back is marked 1002, what is very common on these Air-King models. Rolex used the 1002 case backs for the ref. 5500 middle cases.

The blue unrestored dial is in perfect condition and has raised steel batons. This Rolex watch oozes style and elegance.

This very high grade automatic 26 jewel movement is in very good condition and has been fully serviced. The movement is signed by: Montres Rolex SA, Geneva Swiss.

STRAP.
To finish off this beautiful watch, It comes on a new lizard strap.
BOXES & PAPERS.
Like most vintage wristwatches that are over 60 years old, the original certificate and box have been lost or discarded over the years. But even though this watch does not have its original box or certificate, this watch, the reference numbers, markings, signatures and hallmarks are all correct, dating the watch to circa 1988.
