This is a wonderful example of a Rolex Precision Ref. 4498 made in 1953.
A Rolex model full of charm and elegance.
The beautiful large 35mm stainless steel case is in excellent condition.
At the time, the standard size of a Rolex was around 31mm to 32mm, and an oversized Rolex was 35mm or larger.
The original dial has been restored to the highest possible standard and looks simply gorgeous.
The dial features flat black Calatrava batons and large steel dauphine hands.
The Rolex crown logo and serial number 947294 remain on the back of the case.
Very high quality 15 jewel movement has been fully serviced by a watchmaker.
Comes with a new high quality Hirsch strap.
Case
The stainless steel case is in very good condition with very light wear.
The outer caseback has some small marks as seen in the pictures.
The case size is 35mm excluding the winding crown.
On the inside of the caseback, all markings are expected to be correct.

Box and accessories
As with many vintage watches that are over 70 years old, the original certificate of authenticity has been lost or discarded over the years.
However, even though this watch does not have the original box or certificate, the watch, reference numbers, marks, signatures and hallmarks are all correct and indicate that this watch dates to 1953.
